At the end of October, I made the journey "Back
East" (that's what Californians say when they refer to the East
Coast) to visit family and friends in New Jersey and New York City.
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, I accompanied my good friends Michael
and Jim to Westport, Connecticut in their ongoing search for a weekend
house. Being a Californian for the last few years has made me forget
that during the autumn months, the leaves on trees do change color and
we happened to catch this yearly phenomenon at its absolute peak. Since
I did not bring my camera on this trip, I had to stop at the nearest
drugstore and buy one of those disposable cameras for two reasons: the
gorgeous fall colors everywhere and the fact that Westport is home to
the Queen of Good Living, Martha Stewart. Now I think Martha is kind
of cool in a camp sort of way, but a friend back in San Francisco truly
worships at the Shrine of Martha. I wanted to find Martha's house and
snap some pictures for my friend. As luck would have it, I even got
a perfect red leaf fresh from one of Martha's trees. (Please Martha,
I SWEAR, I am NOT a stalker!)
